Age: | Ancient | Species: | Asgardian |
Sexual Orientation: | Bisexual | Romantic Orientation: | Hopeless |
Face Claim: | Jaimie Alexander | Writer: | Violet |
Personality:
Sif is rather stoic, she has a deadpan sense of humor with outsiders but her true friends know the vibrancy she has and her zest for life. She loves a good challenge, with her warrior brothers constantly daring each other to do stupid things. Most only see her very serious, very rough exterior. Intimidation is how she keeps the majority away. Trust must be earned, not given. For those that earn her trust, her honor depends on protecting those around her, which she will do with her very life if it comes to that.
Appearance:
At first glance, Sif might not look all that unusual compared to a Terran, though if stood next to one her proportions are larger, matching her Asgardian height. She has long dark hair, though she has thought about cutting it recently in some of the styles she's seen the Terrans sport. She has bright blue eyes that can burn into your soul just as easily as they can glimmer with laughter. Her body is well muscled from centuries of training, and she tends to wear clothing that accents her form, but not so restrictive that she can't move.
Powers & Abilities:
Asgardian - Sif shares powers common among all Asgardians, with her dense physiology granting superhuman strength greater than the average Asgardian female and on par with the athletic Asgardian male, limited invulnerability, as well as advanced stamina, speed, agility, regen and reflexes. Sif is also extremely long lived and maintains her youth and vitality. She is highly skilled in hand to hand combat and proficient in use of cold weapons, favoring a sword and shield in battle. She is often said to be the best female fighter in Asgard. She has a knack for strategy and tactics from her many centuries of warfare.
Items & Resources:
Honor - Sif's shield was designed for her by Odin himself and crafted by the Dwarves from the metal of a falling star.
Glory - She designed her sword herself, it is capable of shifting it's form from that of a long sword, to a short sword, and even a bladed staff should the need arise.
Asgardian Armor - Her armor is of Asgardian make and enchanted to protect her from blunt objects, arrows, and even projectiles such as bullets and armor piercing rounds.

History:
Sif was born on Asgard, though the details of her birth are shrouded in mystery. She knows she shares one of Heimdall's nine mothers, the Maidens of the Waves, though she has no idea which one, nor does she know who her father is. She can only assume it is an Asgardian since she looks so vastly different then her brother. As a child, she shared the Asgardian golden locks. Her hair was so beautiful that many envied her beauty. From a young age, she was raised with the Shield Maidens, young girls of Asgard vying over the chance to one day become a Valkyrie.
Loki grew so envious of how everyone fauned over her blonde hair, making him feel more like an outsider since he looked nothing like his family, that he cut off her hair while she was sleeping one night. The next morning, Sif was heartbroken and Thor came to her aide forcing Loki to apologize in true Asgardian style. Loki went to the Light Elves and convinced them to make her enchanted hair made of pure gold. However, Loki's nature got in the way and he took the strands before the final magics could be cast. Upon returning to Sif, he placed the strands to her head where they began to attach and grow as if they were real...but at the last moment the gold turned to black and Sif's greatest feature was lost forever.
She threw herself into her training after that, though her feelings for Thor grew out of his defense of her. If she could not be the most beautiful, then she would be the best warrior. It was for this that Thor chose her to go with him on so many grand adventures and eventually Sif pledged her life and sword to his protection. Of course, she always distrusted Loki though his brothers could not be dissuaded.
Over the years, she earned her place amongst the male warriors of Asgard, the only Shield Maiden to be chosen for Thor's inner circle. She followed him to the ends of the nine realms and back again. Even when he disappointed his father enough to warrant being banished to Midgard, Sif did not abandon him. What she hadn't been counting on was Thor falling in love with a human woman. While she may not have let any of the emotions show on her face, Sif's heart was broken. Still, she could do nothing that would hurt him and that meant protecting the frail human. Jane Foster was intelligent, but she was not a warrior and Sif did not understand what Thor saw in her. She did her duty and protected Midgard from the vile treachery of Loki...all the while somehow managing not to say I told you so. She has stood by Thor's side, and she will continue to do so even though he has chosen not to follow in his father's footsteps and rule Asgard.
She was off planet during Hela's invasion after Odin's death and did not hear of it's events, or the deaths of her beloved warriors three, until it was far too late. Before she could finish her task and make for Midgard, as she was sure that was where Thor would go, she was dusted out of existence along with half the population of the universe. 5 long years later when Bruce Banner's snap brought back everyone lost in the Blip, she set about finding out what happened to Asgard and her people. Eventually she made her way to Midgard and New Asgard but by then Thor had yet again refused to take his rightful place as King and instead named Brunnhilde to the role.
Sif did not shirk her duties as a Warrioress however, and pledged herself to Valkyrie's service just as she had once done to Thor. this took her off planet once more in an attempt to protect the other gods from the God Butcher, but instead she lost her left arm in the fight and barely survived. She has yet to find a prosthetic she likes but Thor mentioned something about talking to the Wakandans.
