Age: | 35 | Species: | Mutant |
Sexual Orientation: | Anything | Romantic Orientation: | Everything |
Face Claim: | Adriana Lima | Writer: | Violet |
Personality:
Vanessa is loyal to the death...usually more then once. Becoming her friend is difficult but once you get past the crunchy outer layers of morbid humor and attitude she would take a bullet for the ones she loves. She is not all looks however, there are brains behind the beauty, though it's mostly street smarts born of necessity. One thing is for sure, she is a survivor, unafraid to get her hands dirty if she has to.
Nessa has always longed for a place to belong, ever since being kicked out by her parents when her mutant abilities kicked in. Even though her mom came around eventually it was never the same. Her time with the X-force showed her what it was to be a part of something but they didn't even know the real her. She is a romantic at heart, oftentimes falling for the wrong guy just because he showed her a little charm and a few gifts, though she's worked real hard on learning to say no.
She loves sweets, the sound of falling rain, and a good smut novel. She dislikes mutant haters, people who try to kill her, watching horror movies alone, and people playing with her things.
Appearance:
Her outer appearance is whatever she wants it to be, from her looks to her clothes. While she does go shopping on occasion she really doesn't need to as she can imagine an outfit into being. Her true appearance is known only to a select few and most of them are dead now. Her skin is a pale shade of light blue, and her hair is stark white with just a tinge of pink in the right light. Her eyes are her most striking true feature however: pure red iris' paired with a stare that can pierce your very soul.
Powers & Abilities:
Shapeshifter/Metamorph - She can change her appearance to match anyone she sees, this includes animals and even inanimate objects allowing her to blend in much like a chameleon. However, her shifting is so precise that given enough time with her intended subject she can duplicate them all the way down to the molecular level which includes memories and genetic abilities. This takes a few minutes upwards to a few hours to truly copy someone so completely and requires physical touch (though samples of their blood would be enough). She does not need to copy them entirely however, it only requires a few minutes if she's focusing on a specific thing, like their ability, but it would take a couple of hours to become them entirely. She can only hold one form at a time and is therefore unable to mix the abilities of her subjects.
Outward physical properties will always be easier and have become a second nature to her. In the beginning, she had minimal control over her ability, sometimes shifting into someone she happened to touch on the subway. As her ability does not require conscious thought, it is possible for her to absorb another person's abilities while unconscious. However, this means that she needs to focus to maintain a constant copy though this has gotten much easier with age. The longer she spends around someone, the easier it is to become them.
Anti-Aging and Cell Renewal - As her cells are almost constantly shifting and renewing themselves, Vanessa does not show the passing of time like others. She can also more easily heal from most minor wounds though getting stabbed or shot will still be a problem.
Psychic Defense - It's very difficult for someone to try and read Nessa's mind as she can change her mind to match those around her. She's even been known to morph into the very person attacking her so they just end up reading themselves in the end. If she has fully copied someone then there is no difference in psi-patterns between the two. Not even their own mother could tell them apart and that includes mannerisms as she copies memories too.
Items & Resources:
Vanessa isn't much one for sentiment so she carries few possessions from life to life. Currently she has a sniper rifle she's named Vera, and a pair of pistols all of which she keeps meticulously cleaned and ready for work. She does keep a ring from her mother but she almost never wears it. Otherwise whatever she needs or wants is probably stolen and not something she's worried about losing.
Home Reality:
Comic 616 - before she joins the Weapon X project, ya know, cause I like her alive and not absolutely batshit
History:
Vanessa's story could have easily ended just as soon as it started. Her childhood wasn't anything to rave about, normal..at least up until her mutant abilities manifested around puberty. Her parents freaked out when they came home and found two dogs where there should have been one. Instead of trying to help their daughter, they tossed her out on her ass. From the streets of New Jersey, Vanessa made her way to Boston, learning that the pimps of the world tended to pay very well for a girl who could literally become their clients wildest dreams, and it didn't seem to matter to them that she was so young. For a long time, Vanessa only thought she was worth what people would pay for her. She dabbled in drugs, booze, whatever kept her numb.
And then Wade Wilson walked into her life. A Merc looking for a good time. She'd been in a shouting match with her pimp, Paolo, when Wade walked around the corner to witness Paolo hit her and send her to the pavement. Wade set him straight and what should have been the start to a romance movie began. Unfortunately for Nessa and Wade, this was a near Shakespearean tragedy. For a few months things were alright, Wade had his job and Nessa had hers, albeit much better now that Paolo was scared shit less. They were saving up to leave Boston and start a normal life together. A number of things conspired against them however: Wade botched a job, let his mark live, and his employers came after Nessa. She never told Wade what happened that night, never told him about the strange woman that saved her, she never got the chance. When she got home, Wade told her he had cancer and that he was leaving. That she deserved better. Unbeknownst to her, Wade eventually signed on to the Weapon X program, and Nessa couldn't help but go looking for him. She became a Merc herself in the hopes that she'd eventually find the right contacts and be able to catch up with him, all mercs knew each other right?
Years passed and eventually she found him again, well more aptly, he found her. They ended up working for the same man: Tolliver. Nessa had been charged with infiltrating the X-force and killing their leader: Cable. She did this by taking on the form of Domino, one of the more mysterious members of the team. For a whole year she ceased to be Vanessa entirely and not even Cable, with all his power, could tell that the woman fighting at his side was not who he thought she was. During this time, Nessa found a purpose beyond searching for Wade, she started to like the feeling of belonging somewhere, of having people watching her back. That meant however that she failed at her mission and another mercenary was dispatched to deal with both Cable and her: Deadpool.
This started Deadpool and Cable down their long road of Frenemies, but Nessa managed to escape. Now with a target on her back she decided to lay low for awhile. She reacquainted herself with an old friend, Tina, pretending to be her twin sister. Deadpool and his partner Sluggo soon found her however and Tina ended up caught in the crossfire. Technically, they thought they'd killed Vanessa, which left her to try and find a new life yet again. What she'd seen of Deadpool led Nessa to believe that the man she had loved no longer existed beneath the black and red mask.
Her time as a Merc and with the X-Force had given her a fairly decent control over her abilities, as well as combat and weapons training. Her specialty was explosives and long range artillery, and obviously infiltration as she could become whomever or whatever she needed to. She settled down in New York, a city with so many people it was easy to get lost in. She took on a new form, but she made sure she wasn't copying any one person. She took small bits from girls in the magazines to form her new identity.
Nessa Carl, as she would now be known, is living as close to a normal, apple pie life as she can get... for an ex-prostitute. She still takes on odd jobs here and there under her alias, Copy Cat, but that's not exactly a unique moniker. She dances in various gentleman's clubs around the city as Kitty, using her powers to give her that little bit of extra star quality, She also rescued a Rottweiler she named Wade, mostly because she cackles whenever she has to yell, "Wade! Stop eating the garbage!". She also has a soft spot for the working girls of the city, and the pimps are beginning to realize they need to straighten up or get the shit kicked out of them.
